3 hours into the season.....
« on: September 13, 2015, 06:57:51 AM »
We were on the road @ 3:30 and in our spot an hour before LST. We let a couple bugles rip 5 minutes before we can shoot, no responses. So we start wok ring up a creek draw with a finger of timber around it that we had some bulls scouted out. I'm on the left, a buddy on the right and a buddy 30 yards behind calling every now and then.
We work nice and slow and get to the a fork in the timber with a cut above it. I hear something moving in the cut above ad I hear my buddy to the left start cow calling. I see the bull working down to us so I range some shooting lanes in the timber, I got one at 30 and one at 56, I'm good with that. He works my way, he's maybe a tillte nervous, he hears the calls and stops and stares. He steps behind a tree. I go full draw. If he takes 3 more steps, I'm letting one fly. For whatever reason e never takes more steps but turns and wheels and blows out of the cut. Very exciting, a little bummed, very optimistic cause it's 8am and we got damn close to getting a bull down.

So we get another plan together for the next move, a low, middle, high side hill action. About an hour into sidehilling, I get a fall from the wife. She's for some back pain, and minor contractions. I radio to the buddies that I gotta bail. 40 minutes to get out and 30 to get home, we drop the daughter off and we are headed I the hospital. Admitted at noon, and at 5:35
